I used to think I was a democrat until I realized that it is just the government taking control in the name of helping my fellow man and the earth. Now I realize I am a libertarian because morally liberal fiscally conservative democrats don’t exist anymore.

The pendulum swings between red and blue each time one side imposing their will in the form of laws on the other because they have to “for their own good”. What people don’t get is that each time it swings more laws get made, laws never get unmade, the chains progressively get tighter around us. Shall we lock ourselves in solitary confinement? We would be moral, we would be fair to all, and we would be green, because we would have no choice to be otherwise. That is what we are doing whenever we say “We need a law to stop them from…”.

If something needs to be done it should be done by us the people, not through laws and punishment, but by our own efforts and sacrifice.

Lastly I leave you with this:

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatreds.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away a man’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.
